Information for parents of pupils who receive free school meals

Free School Meals vouchers after Easter

From after Easter, the Government is launching a national voucher scheme to give the money that used to provide a free school meal directly to parents. These will be provided electronically as a code, or as a gift card, if you do not have internet access.

These vouchers can be used in a range of supermarkets to give you more choice.

This means we need a working email address for the parent or carer who will be receiving the voucher.

The value of the voucher is £15 per week. If you have more than one child entitled to free school meals, this will be multiplied per child. So if you had three children, you would receive £45 a week.

Whilst the scheme is being set up, please make sure we have a working email address for you and that the main contact is the person you would like to receive the voucher.

If you do not have an email address, please ring school to request a voucher to be posted to you on a weekly basis. Office hours are currently 8:00 am to 3:00 am

We can apply for a parcel to be delivered to you if:

•You are over 70, self-isolating and unable to access food
•You are at home with small children and are unable to access or afford food
•You think you are vulnerable and need help with affording or accessing food
•You are unwell and can’t go out, or order food yourself
•You have no money to pay for food at the moment and are struggling to cope.

All you need to do is either ring, or email into school using reception@morecambebayacademy.co.uk.

Your request will be actioned by senior staff, who will ring you back and treat any request in confidence. In this time, families who need it, can request one food parcel a week.

Any other urgent needs we can help you with?
